OUR STORY

"CREATING MALTA'S OWN FOOD FESTIVAL WAS A CHALLENGING YET REWARDING JOURNEY"

The story begins with our shared enthusiasm for travel and food. The Malta International Food Festival's concept is to bring cuisines from all over the world together in one place.

The first edition was launched back in 2015. The festival took place in the historical city of Mdina. It drew over 5000 visitors and over 25 exhibitors/caterers. The festival had an immediate impact on Malta's events calendar and has continued to grow year after year.

In 2019, before events were suspended due to Covid-19. With over 80 exhibitors/caterers and over 38,000 guests, that year was our greatest yet.

The 2023 edition was even greater with over 100 exhibitors/caterers and over 48,000 visitors over the 7 day festival.

After five editions of consistent growth in both exhibitors/caterers and visitors, our team decided it was time to relocate the festival to a larger and more central location; Pjazza Tritoni in Valletta, an amazing venue with organic daily traffic of 100,000 people per day.

CURRENT LOCATION

The Malta international Food Festival is hosted at the entrance of Malta's own capital city Valletta.

Pjazza Tritoni is the majestic square located just outside the City Gate of Valletta, Malta. The square is home to The Tritons’ Fountain one of Malta's most important Modernist landmarks.

Designed and constructed between 1952 and 1959 under no less than three governing bodies, and conceived jointly by eminent sculptor Chevalier Vincent Apap and his collaborator draughtsman Victor Anastasi, the fountain became unofficially operational on Saturday 16 May 1959. The fountain deteriorated in subsequent decades until the bronze figures were dismantled and restored in 2017. Works were ready by the end of the year, and the fountain and piazza were officially inaugurated on 12 January 2018. The space today is one of the most beautiful squares in Malta.

Furthermore, Pjazza Tritoni is well connected having the main bus station 2 minutes away by walk, which connects Valletta to every locality of the island, two large multistory carparks in the surrounding, easy access for persons with disabilities, amongst others.
